Wyning Edge is proud to present our Elite/Preferent and World Champion Friesian Stallions for your consideration.

We understand that breeding your valuable mare is a substantial investment of time, expense and heartfelt love. It is the same for us here too. Therefore, shouldn’t such an investment bear the highest quality of return possible? Our goal is to offer the highest quality choice in stallions for your precious mare.

Each of our three wonderful stallions has garnered awards and achievements that will echo long into the future earning each of them their rightful place in the upper echelon of the Friesian breed. Our stallions represent the finest quality in the world today. Yet each stallion has differentiated himself from the others by hard won competition or his unsurpassed breeding contributions to the Friesian breed worldwide.

We are also very proud of our stallion’s accomplishments in open competition against performance horses of all breeds. While winning among our fellow Friesians is a true acknowledgement of excellence, Wyning Edge Friesians believes that our horses gain the highest level of respect when competing against all performance horses. To compete in Open competition is worthy of great merit and a feat that few others of our breed have proudly accomplished. Our magnificent breed has finally broken away from the “Exotic Pet” moniker and established itself as a serious All-Around Performance horse that can compete & WIN in the big leagues! Now making the Purebred or Crossbred Friesian a valuable, profitable and highly sought after horse! Our belief is that our excellent stallions offer traits that will compliment your mare and that given your thoughtful deliberation, you will find one or more of our stallions to be ideal.

FPZV Elite Preferent Stallion
(Naen 264 x Anne 5638 Star)

Aswyn van de Pluum was foaled in the Netherlands on May 10, 1981. From there he was exported to Germany where he was registered and approved as a breeding stallion in 1987 by a joint KFPS Dutch and FPZV German Approval Committee after he completed and passed the 50-day Stallion Performance Test.

He was the Stallion Performance Test Champion in 1987. Aswyn van de Pluum holds the distinction of being the only jointly approved KFPS & FPZV Friesian breeding stallion in the history of both Dutch & German registries.

Aswyn has a record of over 165 duly registered, premium offspring (KFPS + FPZV).

In 1989, Aswyn sired the FPZV Champion Friesian Colt and Filly in Germany and continued his success as a breeding sire in 1993, 1994, 1999, and 2000 by siring the FPZV Champion Friesian Colt in North America.
Two of his get, in October of 1997, successfully completed the 50-day Stallion Performance Test (conformation, performance, and temperament) for approval as breeding stallions. Son "Foster v.V." achieved his approval here in the US and his son "Woodstock" in Germany.
Years 2000, 2001 and 2003, found three of his sons passing the "Stallion Keuring" for approval, and two 3 year old Aswyn daughters received 'Prel. Star' status.

And in January 2002, Aswyn's 7 year old daughter 'Josephine de Mona' passed the MPT and received the prestigious title 'Model Mare.'
Aswyn's sons 'Van de Pluum' and 'Romeo de Rosa' completed and successfully passed the 50-day Stallion Performance Test in March 2003 for approval as breeding stallions. And in 2004, WEF's own 'Wyn de Pluum v.V.' received approved Stallion status. Also in 2004, two of Aswyn's daughters received Star status.

As of today, Aswyn van de Pluum has sired five FPZV approved breeding Stallions! Rightfully, he was awarded the prestigious 'Preferent Stallion' status in March 2003 and was entered into the 'Elite' Stallion book. He has also received the 'Lifetime Achievement Award' for his outstanding Progeny Record.
Aswyn van de Pluum's contribution to the Friesian breed has been one of tremendous influence and we are very proud to have him as the honorable patriarch of WEF!

Aswyn is currently the oldest living Friesian, and at the age of 27 remains healthy, vital and viable as a breeding stallion.  He continues to sire 1st Premium foals with the addition in 2007 of Zuum van de Pluum WEF, scoring 8.0, as well as being the FPZV Keuring site Champion. We are truly blessed by this magnificent stallion each and every day that we have the good fortune to care for him.  He is available only to Purebred Friesian mares via live cover.

We are excited to be expecting two foals by Aswyn for 2009 out of our lovely mares, Rixt H., Preferent Elite and Rozalinda, Star/Model!

Please see our SALES page for more info on our precious newborns!

2004 FPZV Approved Stallion

(Aswyn van de Pluum x Rixt H)

Foaled 3/25/99

Wyn de Pluum is, without a doubt, one of the most handsome Friesian stallions ever bred…he simply takes your breath away! Wyn is of the Baroque body type, lighter and leaner than the Classic Old World Friesian. His flowing mane and tail only compliment his large, kind eyes cut into a most refined and chiseled head. Many have stated that they have never seen as refined a Friesian as Wyn de Pluum and he is considered by the FPZV judges to be the closest to perfection in Friesian stallion type than any other Friesian stallion in North America with perhaps only one other rival in Europe, his brother, Woodstock.

Wyn’s lineage is unsurpassed. He is a son of our sole FPZV Elite/Preferent Friesian Stallion--Aswyn van de Pluum--and is the only son to have surpassed his magnificent sire in Friesian stallion type. His dam, Rixt H. (also owned by WEF) is the only FPZV Elite/Preferent Mare in the world.

And Wyn de Pluum isn’t just striking in his magnificent appearance…He has been blessed with powerful forward movement and exceptional gaits. All of which have contributed to his becoming an accomplished USDF open dressage competitor earning several “Horse of the Year” Awards, as well as a being the 2006 IFSHA World Champion Friesian Stallion. Wyn is an incredibly hard working athlete that possesses a willingness in his work ethic that makes all who ride him delight in his desire to please. He is smart, gentle and loving with a heart made of marshmallow making him the perfect choice for a breeding stallion. His favorite treat is a really good scratch right at his withers that will nearly send him over the edge with pure ecstasy! We love this stallion with all of our hearts here at Wyning Edge and we are thankful every day that he is part of our lives.

We began breeding Wyn de Pluum in 2005 and thus far, his foals are of excellent quality, scoring 1st or 2nd Premium. His offspring are predominantly the Sporthorse body type with the occasional Baroque…and of course, all are absolutely adorable! He is available for breeding to both Purebred and Crossbred mares.

(Wyn de Pluum’s History continues…) In September, 2003 Wyn was presented for the 2003 FPZV Keuring or Judging Tour. This judging and/or rating is used to determine the scores for type, exterior, and movements with regard to correctness and impulsion for purposes of future breeding. Wyn so impressed the German judges that he received the highest award of 1st Premium with a score of 8.2.

This rating garnered him the 2003 Keuring Reserve Champion Young Stallion/USA designation and we were asked by the judges to submit him for the 2004 FPZV Stallion Performance Test.

Early in 2004, Wyn de Pluum attended the FPZV Stallion Performance Test held in Texas. The test is a grueling 50 days in which a young stallion must excel on every level including: Conformation, Dressage, 4 Wheel Carriage Driving, and pulling a 500lb sled. The purpose of this test is to eliminate all but the best and to allow only the finest stallions to carry on the purebred Friesian lineage. The young horses are worked hard daily and only those found to possess the physical strength & stamina, along with the mental fortitude, maturity and willingness are awarded the honor of passing. Once passed, these stallions become members of a small and elite group allowed to breed the wonderful purebred Friesian mare.

To our excitement, Wyn did us very proud and passed the testing successfully with a combined score of 7.6. Here is a sampling of the wonderful scores he earned:

  • Character-- 10
  • Temperament-- 10
  • Learning and Performance Willingness-- 9.0
  • Performance Ability-- 8.0
  • Ease of Movement Under Saddle-- 8.0
  • Jumping-- 9.5
  • Suitability for Driving-- 8.5
  • Cantor-- 8.5
  • Trot-- 8.0

Please see our NEWS page for an update on our 2008 show schedule and please stay tuned for Wyn's future accomplishments!

FPS Registered Ster Stallion
(Fabe 348 x Iduna-Ster Preferent)
Foaled 5/2/2001

Eeltsje F. has become WEF’s breakout dressage STAR! He and his wonderful trainer, Nicole Glusenkamp of Westmanton Stables in Castle Rock, Colorado, have achieved levels never before attempted with the Friesian breed. His talent is comparable to the most well-bred competition warmbloods and since his importation from Holland in the fall of 2005, Eeltsje F. has certainly done us proud!

In 2006, after a long and very long dressage season, Eeltsje and Nicole qualified in the top 20 for the USDF FEI Five-Year-Old Young Horse Championships in Lexington, Kentucky and split the field by placing 10th in the nation of all five-year-old dressage horses. A feat never before tried or accomplished by a Friesian. Finishing out the season, we continued on from Lexington to the magnificent Dressage at Devon horse show, where Eeltsje also competed in the All-Breeds Championships and was awarded the prestigious 2006 “Grand Champion Friesian” title. This was now coupled with his fantastic “World Champion Junior Friesian Stallion” win at the 2006 IFSHA World Championships held in Las Vegas.

Our first season with Eeltsje was absolutely one of dreams…but 2007 would hold a few more dreams for us!

Eeltsje and Nicole again work hard and with much dedication for the 2007 season and achieved their goal to 2007 qualify for the 2007 USDF FEI Six-Year-Old Young Horse Championships. Which again, a Friesian had never made make the cut before. The Six-year-old field is an incredibly talented group filled with many international world champion horses and riders. But with their incredible partnership, Nicole and Eeltsje competed side by side with these talented horses/riders to end the intense competition by placing 5th in the US! Needless to say, we are so proud of both Eeltsje F. (or Bob, as he is affectionately known!)

Now in 2008, Eeltsje and Nicole have completed the USDF open dressage competition season at Prix St. Georges levels and gone on to place 10th in the US in the USEF FEI Developing Horse Championships in Kentucky! We are also excited to announce that Eeltsje has been chosen as the horse to represent the Prix St. Georges level for the 2008 USDF Convention & Symposium to be held in Denver, Colorado on December 6th & 7th! Our dreams and goals are fulfilled each season with this magnificent pair and we can't wait for the 2009 show season when they will take on the FEI Intermediare 1 level. Please keep an eye out for them!

We have decided that 2009 will be Eeltsje’s first year breeding. As you have read, he is an amazing athlete with superior gaits, very handsome with tons of mane and tail and a fabulous temperament. If you are interested in breeding to this unique and record-breaking stallion, please contact us for more information. He is available for breeding to both Purebred and Crossbred mares.

Eeltsje F. decends from Stam 50. Not only does Eeltsje have the prestigious full papers, Ster Preferent, Ster Preferent, Model Preferent, Model Preferent, Ster Preferent, Model Preferent, Model Preferent, but he is out of the dam of the famous FPS Approved Breeding Stallion, Anton 343, who is known for his mane that almost touches the ground. Eeltsje is sired by Fabe 348, whose sire Sape 381 is the previous World Champion. These 3 FPS Approved Breeding Stallions are among the most highly desired sires in the Friesian Studbook. Not only is each sire known for his excellent movement and sport ability, but they also pass these positive traits on to their offspring!

Eeltsje's line of mothers consists of some of the most outstanding Friesian mares in history. The mare that began this line, Marianne-Model Preferent, was owned by one of the people who helped this ancient breed to survive the crisis of the sixties and saved the breed from extinction. This line of Marianne's daughters preceding Eeltsje, are exceptional! Namk Model Preferent was 1st Premium at the Central Mare Show no fewer than 7 years and was once Champion over all! She was also the Granddam of the FPS Approved Stallion, Barteld 292, who was the sire of Wander 352. Namk's daughter, Namke Model Preferent, received 1st Premiums at 3 Central Mare Shows and was Champion of the three-year-old mares at the Breeding Day. Namke was also the dam of the FPS Approved Stallion, Walter 282.

Eeltsje F. passed the semen and x-ray requirements for breeding approval with the FPS Dutch Friesian Registry. In 2004, Eeltsje became a Ster Stallion and began his Dressage career. In Holland, Eeltsje showed such talent that he by-passed the Dutch Training Level competition and went directly to showing Dutch L Level, which is equivalent to USDF 1st Level. Eeltsje placed 1st in every competition, including all Warmbloods and quickly earned the necessary points to compete in Dutch M Level--the equivalent of USDF 2nd Level. As a 4 year old, Eeltsje defeated a group of 145, 4 and 5 year old Friesians in a Dressage Show attached to a large FPS Friesian Keuring. Eeltsje finished the day on top with the prestigious title "Best Riding Horse," and he is pictured taking his well-earned victory lap in the August 2005 issue of the FPS Registry's Phryso Magazine (click to view). Eeltsje remained undefeated in Holland and was imported into the US by WEF in September 2005.

Jorrit in a word: charisma. Yet one word is not enough. Beauty, talent, extraordinary movement, playful, conceited, intelligent, fantastic. and “God’s Horse” are the other words commonly exclaimed when people describe Jorrit.

We, at Wyning Edge, were very touched when we found out that upon Jim Mosebrook’s death, he had wanted Jorrit to spend his remaining years here with us. To have been chosen by Jim, to care for his beloved Jorrit until they could both someday be together again is an honor for us indeed.  We all owe Jim such a profound debt for all he achieved in the promotion of our fine Friesians.  And Jorrit, with the loving training and support of Sabine Kery, has achieved what we all can only dream of achieving one day with our own beloved Friesians.  Our profound “Thanks!” to Jim and Larry for blessing us with Jorrit’s care for the rest of his days here on earth and our sincerest promise to make those happy days, filled with hugs, kisses, butt rubs and most of all, bananas! ;-)

Also passed to us is Jorrit’s substantial remaining stock of frozen semen which is available for shipment.  We are also in the process of collecting and testing his current semen for immediate use for AI.  He is 23, however, Aswyn was breeding very successfully up until last year and we only retired him from breeding because we were afraid of serious injury at his age, not due to his semen quality.  So we are hopeful that Jorrit may still have that possibility as well.  (Jorrit is also pushing hard for a positive outcome! :-)  No pun intended! HA!)

So, if you are inclined to breed to one of the finest Friesian Sport Horses to ever grace the planet, then please contact us and we would love to make that dream come true!

Paula

Jorrit started his career at Proud Meadows as an exhibition horse. He wowed audiences from coast to coast and even appeared on the NBC Today Show. Certainly the case could be made that Jorrit was, and still is, the most popular and recognizable Friesian in the United States. After this tremendous success in demonstrations, everyone thought we were crazy to risk it all by having Jorrit go back into the show ring after a seven-year absence.

Jorrit made it easy for us to make that decision. And he did not disappoint. When Jorrit retired in 2001 he was the first Friesian Stallion ever in the long and prestigious history of the breed to compete at the Grand Prix Level. He not only competed, but he finished his competition career listed at 6th Place nationally against all breeds. For this and his lifetime of achievement on two continents, he was the first North American Friesian to be awarded the German Federation Nationale’s Golden Horse Award, awarded only to exemplary horses of any breed that meet high German standards.       Jorrit’s bloodline is not only excellent, but historic. He is the son of Mark P, and grandson of Tetman 205. Jorrit’s offspring exhibit his great movement plus his confident and playful disposition. Breed to Jorrit with the ultimate in confidence.
